Albert Jones died last midnight at the residence of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Yazell, on North Fifth street, as the result of an accident which occurred a week ago today at Powers' planing mill on East Adams street. While attending to his duties at the mill, a large piece of wood became caught in a saw and struck Jones in the groin. Although painful, the accident was not considered serious, but the pain was sufficient to compel Jones to quit work for the day. He went home soon after the accident and was confined to the house all week. Even then the seriousness of the accident was not apparent and on Saturday the patient was thought to be much improved. He left his bed and sat about the house for a time. Yesterday morning he suffered a relapse that proved fatal.
Jones was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Jones, who reside on Eastman avenue. Besides his parents he is survived by a wife and one daughter, Lila; three brothers, Richard and Harry Jones of Springfield, and Alfred Jones of DeSoto, Mo.; and by three sisters, Mrs. Flora Kidd, residing here; Mrs. Minnie Lynn of Chicago and Mrs. Ada Eckert of Parsons, Kan. Jones was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and of the local carpenters' union. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 6-30-1902
