He received a promotion to 2nd Lieutenant on January 12, 1864, and to 1st Lieutenant and Regimental Adjutant on May 2, 1864. He then served until he was honorably discharged on November 2, 1864 due to disability caused by wounds received in action.
In 1871 he filed for a United States Army Pension (Application #197389, Certificate #133033). On February 16, 1816 his wife, Anna E. Schoch, filed for a United States Army Widow's Pension (Application #1060862, Certificate #805954).
