Albert Soo, 90, of Jonesboro died peacefully on June 2, 2023, in his home.

Albert was born April 13, 1933, in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Henry and Lee Ping (Anna) Soo. He was a member of the Marvell High School graduating class of 1951. He married Shirley Lee of Lula, Mississippi on July 21, 1957. He attended the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville before attending the University of Arkansas School of Pharmacy where he graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. His first job was in the town of Wilson, Arkansas at Wilson Drug where he lived above the pharmacy on the town square.

Albert founded Soo's Drug Store in 1959 in Nettleton, Arkansas. In the early 1960s, he moved the pharmacy to the University Shopping Center in Jonesboro, where the pharmacy became a fixture of healthcare for the area. For 40 years, Albert ran the pharmacy, taking care of generations of families in the area. Albert was extremely proud and passionate about the pharmacy, which has now been owned and operated by three generations: father, son (daughter-in-law), and grandson.

Since moving to the area, Albert and Shirley have been active members of Nettleton Baptist Church where Albert had previously served as deacon. Albert was a devoted Arkansas Razorback fan and watched or listened to every football and basketball game. He was an active member of the Young at Heart Bowling League and an avid golfer.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Anna Soo of Little Rock; brothers George Soo of San Antonio, Texas and Allen Soo of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Soo; son Mike Soo of Jonesboro, daughter Cindy Soo (Thomas Young) of San Francisco, California and daughter-in-law Krystal Soo of Jonesboro; grandson Tyler Soo (Haley) of Jonesboro and granddaughter Natalee Soo of San Francisco, California; great grandsons Nathan Soo and Jackson Soo of Jonesboro.

A funeral service will be held at Emerson Funeral Home on Thursday June 8, 2023 at 2:00pm and officiated by Brother Stan Ballard. Eulogy will be given by Tracy Mooneyham. Visitation will be held prior to the service between 1pm -2 pm. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park directly after the funeral service.

Active pallbearers include Tyler Soo, Thomas Young, Greg Lee, Derek Lee, Todd Lee, Ashley Lee, Jeffrey Soo and Hunter Hinton. Honorary pallbearers include Richard Lee, Brad Barnett, Brandon Cooper, and the Nettleton Baptist Men 4 Sunday School Class.
