June 2, 2023. Jeanette was born on April 21, 1929 at her family's home near Wilke Lake; she is the
daughter of the late Elmer and Viola (Wriedt) Ninmer. She was proud to be one of two students in her
grade school class of Fountain Park Grade School. On May 24, 1950, she married the love of her life
Allen Miller at the rectory at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Jeanette was a private seamstress for
many years of her life and she also worked at Hansen Glove Factory in Kiel and Clothcrafters of Elkhart
Lake. She liked to sew matching outfits for her children in their younger years, as well as quilts for her
family which often included collaboration with her mother. She enjoyed her time quilting with the
Women's Guild at her church as well. When she was young, she started pencil sketching pictures of
friends and movie stars. This lead to many different techniques of art and painting through her life:
watercolor, pottery, oil painting and China painting. Jeanette also enjoyed knitting, crocheting,
crossword puzzles, and playing card games. She was a very proud member of St. Peters UCC, where she
had been a member of the Mendelssohn Choir, the Chapel Chimers, the Care Callers, and the Women's
Guild. She also looked forward to her days when the whole family would go on camping trips and in
later years week-long visits with "Up North" friends.
She was proud to say she was a charter member of the Jolly Twelve Card Club, which she was a member
of for over 50 years. Playing the organ, piano and guitar, which was mostly self-taught, as well as her
yodeling were a few of her musical accomplishments. There wasn't much that Jeanette couldn't do.
Making tortes and her famous pie crusts that people would request at church functions was common for
her. Her grandkids requested her sticky buns, her fruit cake, or her crepes, and she was sure to make
them all with a smile upon her face. Doing something for others gave her so much joy. Her family,
church and friends meant everything to Jeanette.
She is survived by her husband: Allen; five children: Brenda (Steve) Schetter, Kiel, Pat (Jeff) Horness,
Howards Grove, Mark (Karen) Miller, Kiel, Lisa (Dan) Winkel, Kiel and Jayne (Dennis Patt) Miller, Elkhart
Lake; 11 grandchildren: Alicia (Gaspar) Montesa, Matthew (Alisha) Schetter, Caitlin (Marcus) Walgrave,
Taylor (Amy) Horness, Jenny (Steve) Schnelle, Amanda (Justin) Boedecker, Aaryn (Corey) Faust, Jenna
(Brett) Yost, Benjamin (Jennifer) Miller, Jacob (Bailey Schaller) Winkel, and Alex Winkel; and 11 great-
grandchildren. Jeanette is further survived by two sisters-in-law: Gertrude Ninmer and Doreen Miller, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Edward & Louise (Klein) Miller; siblings: Orville Ninmer, Willard (Frances) Ninmer, Audrey (Elroy) Hansman; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Leon (Ruth) Miller, Rosella (Ralph) Bruckner, Arno Miller, Arline (Leo) Schnell, Elroy (Rose Mary) Miller and Carlos (Margene) Miller.
Funeral Services for Jeanette will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at St. Peter's UCC (424
Fremont St. Kiel) with Pastor Nicole Herda officiating. Burial will follow the service at Union Cemetery, town of Schleswig. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9:00AM until 10:45AM
when brief family rites will be held.
