Major League Baseball Player. For thirteen-seasons (1961 to 1973), he was a pitcher with the San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers and Boston Red Sox. Born Bobby Donald Bolin, he made his initial impression on the baseball diamond during his years at Rock Hill High School in South Carolina. Signed as an amateur free agent by the New York Giants in 1956, he made his Major League debut on April 18, 1961. Bolin experienced a pennant winning season in 1962 with the San Francisco Giants and pitched in 2 games against the New York Yankees during the World Series. In 1965, he produced a career-high 14 wins. In 1970, he had the distinction of being on the Milwaukee Brewers during the first season the franchise played in Milwaukee. In 495 career regular season games, he compiled an 88 win, 75 loss record with 1,175 strike outs, in 1,576 innings-pitched with a career 3.40 ERA. After retiring as a player, he served as a pitching coach with the Chicago White Sox Minor League affiliate the Birmingham Barons.
