Update note: “The date of death on the gravestone is off by a year. The application for a veteran's headstone sent into the federal government indicates that he died on March 25, 1901. The March 28, 1901 edition of the Chandler News (p.8 under heading "Arlington Items.") corroborates this date. Finally, his widow made an application for a widow's pension on July 6, 1901.
