***Excerpt from "Gazetteer and Biographical Record of Genesee County, N.Y., 1788-1890; Town of Le Roy" (pg 523)-
"Alexander and Elizabeth (McBeath) Douglass, natives of Scotland, who came to Peoria about 1829, where he resided until his death. He was a soldier of the War of 1812. He reared two sons and three daughters, and in 1859 settled where his widow now resides."
Their known children were:
Susan Douglas Cameron (1811-1880)
Alexander A Douglas (1815-1893)
John A Douglass (1818-?), wife Jannet Orr (1835-1894)
Ellen Douglass Stewart (1825-?)
Also living with this family in 1850 and 1860 census records is Ellen McBeath (b 1799). Presumably, Elizabeth's sister.
NOTE: Earlier records include spelling of surname as "Douglass" with the second "s" being lost in later records.
