Eleanor was born on January 1, 1931 to Abbie (Abigail) and William Bowen in Pleasantville, NJ. She was a true New Year baby in every way and loved a good party from the start. After graduating from Pleasantville High, she met and married her loving husband Bill. They spent many years traveling the country while Bill served in the Marines. During that time they welcomed two daughters, Kathleen and Nancy. After Bill's time in the Marines, Bill and Eleanor settled in Haddon Heights, NJ, where Eleanor became active in the local community as part of the 4H club with her daughters, the historical society, the women's club (serving as president for multiple years) and her church. In addition, she was an Avon representative and served for multiple years as president.
She made everyone feel part of the family and is affectionately known as Memom or Honey to more than just her own grandchildren. Those who knew her were likely to find Eleanor at the center of a crowd. She was the life of any party she attended and truly enjoyed being around others. She enjoyed crafts, baking, decorating, hosting tea parties and in general living life to its fullest. Her family will fondly remember her infectious laugh, dancing wherever and whenever she could, their trips to the diner, adventures to the trailer in the Poconos, going to shows, playing board games and family holiday parties and celebrations.
Eleanor was predeceased by her brothers (William, Robert, and Joseph Bowen), her faithful and loving husband (William) and her dedicated grandson Michael (Michelle Kneble) Netter.
She is survived by her devoted daughters Kathleen (Nicholas) Fecenko and Nancy (Les) Netter, her five grandchildren Brian Fecenko, Karen (Kirk) Tacka, Laura Netter, Christine (Grant) Murphy, and James Fecenko and her seven great grandchildren who lit up her world and made it complete Abigail, Jack, Isabelle, Gavin, Cailin, Liam, and Nicholas.
