William E. Gilfillan (Bill), age 85, passed away after a lengthy illness, which he battled as courageously as the wars he fought.

William was a decorated veteran, who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. In Korea, he was trapped at the 38th parallel, and was one of the fortunate Frozen Chosin to make it back home. He continued his service through Vietnam, before retiring to Haddon Heights, NJ.

Bill is survived by his wife, Eleanor (nee Bowen) and their two children: Kathleen (Nicholas) Fecenko of Hilltop, NJ and Nancy (Les) Netter of Barrington, NJ. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Brian Fecenko, Karen (Kirk) Tacka, Michael Netter, Laura Kominos, Christine (Grant) Murphy and James Fecenko and five great grandchildren: Abigail, Jack, Isabelle, Gavin and Cailin. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Wagner of Livingston, NJ.

Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights. He was a member of the 2nd Marine Division, Marine Corp League 1775 detachment, FRA Branch 057, American Legion Post 1000, VFW Post 8714, The Korean War, The Chosin Few, China Marine Association, and a member of Rising Son Lodge No. 15 F. & A.M. Bill lived the Marine Corp motto: Semper Fidelis - Always Faithful. He exemplified that hard work and conviction result in a happy fulfilled life. He was a fun-loving man who will be missed by his family and friends. Semper Fi!

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing, Tuesday 7 to 9 PM at TERRANOVA FUNERAL HOME, 402 White Horse Pike, Haddon Heights, and his Viewing Wednesday 10 to 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights, 7th Avenue and Green St., Haddon Heights followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Harleigh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights at the above address.
