EUNICE, LOUISIANA
On the beautiful evening of June 20, 2023, a loving and kindhearted mother and grandmother, Berline Boone passed away in the comfort of her home with loving family by her side at the age of 77. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2023 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile.

Burial will follow in the St Augustine Cemetery with Father Keenan Brown, Celebrant and Father Jose Vattakunnel, MOC, Concelebrant.

Berline was born on July 26, 1945, in Eunice to Felix and Violet (Godeaux) Boone who preceded her in death. With the inspiration of Father Speyrer and the grace of God, Berline ran for Councilwoman and then became the first elected female mayor and longest serving mayor of the town of Basile. She served the community for twenty years. She was a former President and Grand Marshall of the Louisiana Swine Festival. She loved working in her yard, cutting grass, planting flowers, going to Holly Beach to relax and crab as well as playing softball and running Mardi Gras. She spent many years greeting people and working at the Basile Exxon. She considered the Exxon her second home. Berline was a devout Catholic woman who loved attending mass and adoring her Lord at the Adoration Chapel. Everyone who knew Berline knew that she was an extremely kind, loving, and generous person.

She loved her family beyond measure, especially her two daughters, Bridgette Sonnier Daigle and husband, Troy of Prairie Rhonde and Tracey Sonnier Pitre and husband, Jason of Basile; brother, Stafford Boone and wife, Roberta of Church Point; sisters, Bertha Matte of Richard and Elta Boone of Eunice. The five joys of her life were her grandchildren, Kelsie Dever and husband, James, Macie Pitre Fontenot and husband, Dusty, Hayden Pitre, Logan Daigle Alexander, and Jay Roberts Pitre.

She loved spoiling her great grandchildren with all her heart, Riley Dever, Madeline Pitre, Ainslie Fontenot, Eliahna Alexander, Amelia Dever, Callen Fontenot, Lane Paul Fontenot, Izabella Alexander, Memphis Dever, Blace Dever Tate and Ellison Vidrine. She will forever be in the hearts of those who were blessed to be touched by her and missed immensely.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Thomas, LeRoy, and Steve Boone; sisters, Flo Gaspard, Doris Olivier and Elaine Fortson.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, June 22nd from 11:00 am until 12 noon on Friday. A Rosary will be prayed by Father Jose Vattakunnel, MOC at 6:00 pm on Thursday.
