Stephan was the 3rd son of Friedrich & Katharina Wendel. He was born in December of 1868. His mother Katharina died on August 9, 1912. Three months later, on Nov. 11, 1912 Stephan was committed to the Sheboygan County Asylum for the Chronicly Insane by his younger brother Fred, along with 3 of his brothers, Carl, Peter and Serwatzius. Stephan lived there until he passed away on Dec. 30, 1939 at the age of 71. He was buried in the Potters Field section of Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan in plot #101.
