Dr Alfred M. Leonard passed away December 13th in the hospital at Ogdensburg at the age of sixty years. To the old-time residents of Camden Mr. Leonard will be well remembered. He was the only son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Hendy W. Leonard of Camden. His father was a Civil War Surgeon. He enlisted from Florence, but in after years located in Camden and practiced medicine here for many years until his death. The Leonard homestead stood between the residence of Mrs. W. J. Frisbie and Mrs. Ella M. Conant on Main street, and only a few years ago the buildings were razed. The son, subject of this sketch, became a physician too, specializing usually on the eyes. As an optical specialist he had attained considerable success and prominence, when is health failed. He had then been located in Cicero for many years, and went from there to the hospital at Ogdensburg.

He was a man who possessed many talents, but affliction robbed him and the world of the full fruitage of his career. Mr. Leonard was very popular for is genial, good natured, kindly disposition. He was born in Florence May 1, 1862.

He leaves a daughter and two sisters, Miss Jennie Leonard and Mrs. Richard Moxley of Nutley, N.J., also two nieces, daughters of Mrs. Moxley.

The remains arrived In Camden Friday night and were taken to the undertaking parlors of Smith & Scranton, where a Masonic funeral was held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon. By the request of the family and Fort Brewerton Lodge F & A. M. conducted the Masonic burial service. Mr. Roy H. Scranton sang a hymn “Nearer My God to Thee.” The following gentlemen acted as bearers, P.W. Heron, Geo. E. Philpott, Walter Tiffany and Jason Farr and the body was laid at rest in the family plot in Forest Park Cemetery.

Those present at the service from out of town were Miss Jennie Leonard of Nutley, N.J and Dr. Countryman of Central Square.
