Honey was born on March 5, 1932, in New Holstein, WI to Richard and Annacille (Pulger) Hipke. She graduated from New Holstein High School in 1950 and attended Ripon College, eventually graduating from Sheboygan Business College, which is where she met the love of her life, John. They had recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
Honey thrived as a steadfast wife and considered motherhood to be her greatest achievement in life. She strove to raise her family in a constantly nurturing environment, surrounded by love and emotional support. To ensure that her children were exposed to various worldly cultures, she and John opened their home to two separate foreign exchange students from Germany, Native American children from a Wisconsin reservation as well as several minor league baseball players from Australia.
Honey and John were fortunate to have traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and New Zealand.
Honey's love of music was inherited by all of her children. She played the French horn in the New Holstein High School Band, Ripon College Band and the Kiel Municipal Band. Civic duties included work with The Community Chest, a tireless commitment to the American Cancer Society, a lifelong involvement with the New Holstein Historical Society as well as over 25 years as a volunteer at the warehouse of the Salvatorian Mission. She enjoyed being an avid reader, was a member of numerous bridge clubs throughout her life and was an excellent cook, renowned for her perfectly delicious baked goods. There is nothing that she enjoyed more than spending time with her close friends and entire family.
She is survived by her husband John; daughter-in-law Michelle LaFave, ; son Mark (Renee) Leibham; daughter Carrie (Rob) Riley; son Jeffrey; grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas, Jennifer, Jessica, Jaclyn, Jonathan, Drake, and Annalise; great grandchild, Quinn; sister, Harriet Stoll; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Jacob and Madeline Leibham; brother, Dick; and son, Terrence.
