Growing up in Lake City, Vickie was a member of her high school basketball team, was on the cheerleading squad and participated in many other school activities. Voted "Ms. Lake City" in her senior year of high school, she was very popular among her friends. Active in church throughout her life, Vickie enjoyed serving God and others. As a military wife, she and her children moved several times throughout her life always in support of her husband's military career. Vickie enjoyed bowling, dancing, cooking, entertaining and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Vickie's career included several years in management at South Carolina Federal Credit Union.
She is predeceased by her husband, Dennie W. Buchanan; two brothers, Leo Matthews and Donald Matthews; and a sister, Kathleen Cox.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Carolina Memorial Chapel, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406.
