Bernice lived in Afton through high school. She helped on the family farm. She loved to dance, and was never lacking for a dance partner.
Bernice attended the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. Returning to Afton she hot a job at the County Extension Office. while working there, she met Vern A. Wolfley from Etna. He was a county employee working in agriculture. shortly after they were married, he built a small home in downtown Afton. They lived their for several years. Their first child a daughter, Norda Beth, was born in 1939
Vern left agriculture and went to Lincoln, Neberska to dental school. While the family lived in Lincoln, two sons were born, Vern Jr. and Paul Ray. The family moved back West and after a while settled on a farm outside of Idaho Falls.
Bernice was industrious and she taught her family the value of work. She set the example by producing cottage cheese, buttermilk and butter, from their farm animals. she made bread from the wheat they grew. she bottled, canned and froze the produce from their gardens.
Durning their time in Idaho Falls, a final daughter was added to the family , Carol Jo.
Bernice and the family moved to Phoenix for the health benefits of a warmer climate. In Phoenix she make life long friends and served in every possible church calling. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was proud of her two missionary sons, and missionary grandsons, and missionary granddaughters, grandsons and great grandsons.
As Vern was retiring form his Dental Practice, the couple came to Afton for the summers. Bernice has a sister Maurine Anderson in Afton, Eva Bateman in Bedford; Helen Stevens in Afton and LaNea Schofield in Blackfoot, Idaho. Bernice loved to come back to Afton and visit her dear sisters, and the place of her birth. When retirement was complete, they purchased a home and would attend the Afton third Ward form May to October.
Bernice was very proud of her pioneer heritage. She instilled in her family the same love of heritage. Bernice has three generations of posterity who love to come back to Star Valley, the place of their roots.
Bernice is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Vern A. Wolfley and a son, Paul Ray Wolfley. she will be missed by family and friends in Arizona and Wyoming.
She is survived by daughters, Norda Beth Brimley and Carol Jo Bennett, son Vern A. Wolfley Jr. 19 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren, four sisters and one brother.
Bernice had a lovely service on March 22, 2007 and was interred next to her husband and son in Phoenix.
