Shirley L. Smith, 86, of Clarksburg, WV died Monday, July 24, 2023 in Maplewood Healthcare Center in Bridgeport, WV.

She was born August 14, 1936 at Hundred, WV, a daughter of the late Chester D. Hostutler and Ethel Mae Hixenbaugh Hostutler.

Ms. Smith formerly worked at Bells Market in Pine Grove for many years and was a supervisor at Decorator Industries in New Martinsville.

She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Clarksburg.

Surviving are two sons, John W. Smith, Jr. of Hepzibah and David R. Smith of Jacksonburg; two daughters, Julie Ellis of New Matamoras, Ohio and Amy Grotegeer of Zanesville, Ohio; two sisters, Marlene Evans of New Manchester and Carol Smith of New Cumberland; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, John W. Smith; three sisters, Lorene Morris, Nelda Masters, and June Hostutler; and four brothers, Harold Hostutler, Garold Hostutler, Jearold Hostutler, and Chester C. Hostutler.

Friends may call at the Tennant Funeral Home, 2678 Hornet Highway, Hundred, WV from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, July 28, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with Evangelist Keith Bramel officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Ned, PA.
