Mr. Avant died at this home Monday at 8:30 p.m. after suffering a stole Monday morning while working on his farm.
Born March 6, 1888, Mr. Avant had lived in Baxter the greater part of his life. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Avant of Baxter.
Mr. Avant worked several years for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Jacksonville. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Baxter, having joined when a young man.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Avant; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Clark, Athens and Mrs. Jerry Pardue of Tyler; one brother, B. F. Avant, Brownsboro; one sister, Mrs. Lena Jepson, Baxter and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were W. J. Thompkins, E. M. Crim, Everett Davis, Charlie Johnson, Merle Carnes, John Thomas, Woodrow Neeley, and Calvin Wilson.
