The son of Louis & Sophia Robinson was raised in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. A laborer by occupation, he stood 5' 10" tall and had brown hair and gray eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Carlisle July 25, 1862, with Co. G, 130th Pa Inf, serving at the rank of private until honorably discharged with his company on May 21, 1863.

He entered the Dayton Soldiers' Home on March 7, 1884, by reason of having lost a leg, reason unknown, and died the following day.
