Jonah L. Frye, 60, died last Thursday at his home in Faubush, after an illness of two years. He was born at Faubush April 1, 1890, the son of the late Peter and Victoria Popplewell Frye. On January 21, 1913, he married Mary McBeth, and to the union four children were born. He had lived in this county all his life, teaching in the county school system for a number of years. He was also an instructor in vocal music among the churches of the county. His success as a teacher and strong Christian character influenced many of the children who were in his classes, and his kind and gentle manner endeared him to his pupils.
He was a member of the Faubush Baptist Church, having professed his faith in Christ 15 years ago. He was a friend to all who knew him, a loyal worker and member of his church, always ready to help those in need. He was a devoted husband and father.
Mr. Frye is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Frye; two sons, Waldo Frye, Faubush, and Woodrow Frye, Faubush; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Milburn, Farmer City, Illinois, and Miss Dolly Frye, Faubush; one brother, Tom Frye, Faubush; two sisters, Mrs. Louetta Johnson, Faubush, Mrs. Nancy Jane Wilson, Somerset, and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Faubush Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bert Whitaker officiating. Burial was in the Weddle Cemetery.
