Mrs. Iowana Brady Hillyard, 92, a resident of Route 3, Box 145, Belington, departed this life Thursday evening, Dec. 28, 2006, at the home of her niece, Opal Wagoner, near Belington. She had been in declining health for the past several months.
She was born Sept. 28, 1914, at Junior, a daughter of the late Charles B. and Rachel Ellen Moore Brady.
On Oct. 13, 1936, she was united in marriage to Tom "Stu" Hillyard, who preceded her in 1996.
Surviving Mrs. Hillyard are one grandson, Dave Hillyard of Lumberport; one great-grandson, Eric Hillyard; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, Thomas Junior Hillyard; three brothers and five sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Hillyard attended the schools of Barbour County, was a homemaker and was a member of Junior Church of the Brethren.
Friends may call at Talbott Funeral Home at 210 Brandenburg St. in Belington from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and on Sunday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bryan Headley and Sister Teresa Reddington officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington. Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Iowana Brady Hillyard.
