Ezra E. Charles, 77, of 919 Union died Monday night at St. Nicholas Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Fauness, Mich., on June 28, 1901, a son of the late Eugene and Florence Knapp Charles.
On Dec. 28, 1934, he was married to Lydia Haul in Cascade. Mr. Charles came to Sheboygan in 1943 and was a city employee for 15 years, retiring in 1966.
He was a member of the city employee's union.
He is survived by his wife; one son. Edwin of Clintonville; two daughters, Mrs. David (Lavonne) Paasch of Amber, Wis. and Mrs. Frederick (Carleen) Tasche of Sheboygan. 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Darwin of Appleton and Stanley of Amber, and a sister, Mrs. Lucinda Travis, Mobridge, S.D. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 :30 p.m.Thursday at the Nickel-Lippert Funeral Home with the Rev, Vernon Jaberg, pastor of St. John UCC, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
