He made his debut in wrestling in the mid-1960s starting out in his father's (Dory Funk Sr) Amarillo territory. Afterward, he went on to have a long historic career as a top star in numerous promotions such as All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), Georgia, Florida, National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Besides being a successful singles star, he also was the tag team partner of his (real life) brother, Dory Funk, Jr. He & his brother Dory went on to win tag team gold in the NWA territories and in AJPW under Giant Baba. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009. He was featured in Paradise Alley (1978) and Roadhouse (1989).
