Katherine Batts, age 94 of Turners Station, died Monday, March 17, 2008 at The Richwood in LaGrange. Daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Sanders Burch, she worked as a cook for Campbellsburg Elementary School for ten years and was a member of Turners Station Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Bertha Chadwell and husband, Calvin, New Castle; one son, Dennis Batts and wife, Carolyn, Carrollton; two brothers: Forrest H. Burch, Port Royal and Johnny Lee Burch, Eminence; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond "Blue" Batts, and one sister, Trula Mae Ethington
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Rev. Carl Rucker, pastor of Port Royal Baptist Church officiated. Interment was in Port Royal Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Todd Kelley, Brent Bond, Clarence Tingle, Keith Baxter, Lawrence Bond and Dustin Baxter.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to WHAS Crusade for Children.
