Pete as he was known to his friends was born
in San Sabastion,Puerto Rico.His parents left
Puerto Rico and moved to Brooklyn,NY.
He enlisted in the Marines 18 February 1966,at
the Brooklyn Recruiting Office.
Peter arrived in Vietnam and was assigned to
Charlie Company,1st Battalion,7th Marine
Regiment,1st Marine Division.
While on a combat patrol 26 June 1967,Peter
received multiple fragmentation wounds from
a booby trap mine,1 kilometer southeast of
Liberty Bridge.
Peter died 1 July 1967 at the 1st Medical
Battalion,as a result of fragmentation wounds
to the abdomen,pelvis,right leg,leg foot and a
bleeding disorder from his wounds.
He was single and served his country for 1
year,4 months and 13 days.KIA#14,042.
Tour of duty date unknown.
Peter was 20 years,5 months and 21 days old.
Survived by his parents;Pedro & Eva Aviles;a
brother;David of 317 Knickerbocker Avenue,
Brooklyn,NY.
He was buried 12 July 1967.
