Mr. Stafford Frazier, 77

WELLFLEET - Stafford Frazier, 77, died at his home Aug. 18.

Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of John R. Frazier and Mary (Stafford) Frazier. He graduated from Providence Country Day School, Brown University and Boston University School of Law. He was a member of the bar in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He served two years in the United States Army in the Korean War and was stationed in Tokyo as a signal corpsman for an amphibious unit.

At Providence Country Day School, he played football, baseball and was on the wrestling team. At Brown, he was captain of the freshman wrestling team. On the Brown crew team, he was a member of the student group responsible for bringing crewing back to Brown and the Seekonk River. A member of Chequessett Yacht and County Club in Wellfleet for more than 50 years, he was a competitive sailor and golfer. He was a past president and board member.

Mr. Frazier spent his early summer years in Provincetown. His mother was a portrait painter and his father an Impressionist painter, teacher and president emeritus of Rhode Island School of Design.

In 1941, the family built a home in Wellfleet. Mr. Frazier became a year-round resident in 1958, where he was a local builder.

He is survived by his wife Kristin (Fletcher) Frazier; his daughter, Kristin Frazier of Wellfleet; three stepchildren, Rebecca Brock of Mill River, Fletcher Brock of Seattle and Jonathan Brock of North Eastham; two step-granddaughters; a step- great-granddaughter; 12 nieces and nephews; and his brother, John R. Frazier Jr. of Milton. He was predeceased by his brother, Quentin Frazier. He was a Mayflower descendant of Edward Doty.

Burial will be private in the family plot in Truro. Donations may be made in his memory to Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod Hospice, 434 Route 134, Suite G-1, South Dennis, MA 02660.
