Luba "Libby" WISSE married Morris BERMAN on August 18, 1913, in Russia. Soon after they married, they decided to immigrate to the USA. They were on the the ship "Volturno." The ship's boiler room exploded, caught fire, and the ship began to sink slowly. Each jumped into the ocean. Luba was saved by a Belgium ship on its way to New York. Morris was saved by an oil tanker that went to England. Luba arrived in New York about 10 days before Morris; shew was met by Morris' brothers. Morris finally arrived on the maiden voyage of the Prince Rupert. Neither came through Ellis Island. Except for some money and a few small things that they were able to grab, all of their possessions sank with the ship.
