Jacob Kramer was born 29 Jul. 1825 in Germany. It is a family story that Jacob did not want to fight in the German civil war so he took employment on a cattle boat to America. When the boat returned to Germany Jacob stayed in the United States. It didn't work out too good because he was a soldier for the union army in the United States civil war. He married Elizabeth Lawrence 4 Jan. 1849 in Franklin Co., Indiana. They had 13 children. Jacob died 30 Nov. 1920 while living with his son Henry.
