NORTON, VA – Betty Lou Sturgill, 73, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 in Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN.

She was the daughter of the late Pearl Henry Bates and Nettie Osborne Bates.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Eugene Sturgill.

Surviving are her daughter, Gayla Sturgill of Norton, VA; two sons, Rick Sturgill and his wife Pam of Coeburn, VA, Danny Sturgill and his wife Melanie of Norton, VA; three grandchildren, Stephanie Bryant, Amanda Cooper, Stephen Cooper, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Camren Cooper and Morgan Cooper; two sisters, Shelby Reed of Coeburn, VA, Lois Carico of Duffield, VA; two brothers, Frank Bates of Texas, Fred Bates of Tacoma, VA and a special nephew and caregiver, Kim Reed.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joe Dearry officiating.

Private interment will be at a later date.
