David McSwain was the oldest of the twelve children born to William McSwain and his first wife, Judith Moore. He was the namesake of his paternal grandfather. William McSwain was a soldier in the American Revolution. The Daughters of the American Revolution honored his service by designating him DAR Ancestor Number A076504, making his descendants are eligible to join the DAR / SAR / CAR.
