3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, out of Fort Campbell, KY


He graduated from Desoto High School in Desoto, TX, in 1997. He then attended and graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice in 2002. He enlisted in the Army in March 2003 and was on his second combat tour at the time of his death. He volunteered as a candidate for Special Forces and earned the coveted Green Beret in 2004. His military education includes the special forces Advanced urban Combat Course, Jumpmaster Course, Free Fall Parachutist Course, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer's Course, Warrior Leaders Course, Basic Airborne Course, Special Forces Qualifications Course and Advanced Explosives Techniques Course. Among his military awards and decorations were the Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart; Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global on War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global on War on Terrorism Service Medal; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon; Overseas Service Medal; Combat Infantryman's Badge; Military Free Fall Parachutist Badge; and Special Forces Tab. He died in Sama Village, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked using small arms fire and grenades.


Interment on May 1, 2010.
