Our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and lifelong teacher, Constance Diane Bagley Ferrin, passed away on Thursday, August 25th, 2022, at the age of 74. Diane was born on February 23rd, 1948, in Logan, UT, to Constance ''Connie'' Bagley Krause and Gerad I. Nielsen. She taught students for 30 years at a variety of schools in SLC: Peruvian Park Elementary and Midvale, West Jordan, and Oquirrh Hills Middle schools. Diane loved teaching her students and loved even more taking some of the luckier ones on trips to southern California and Washington D.C. during the summers. She relished in immersing her students in the colorful and interesting world outside of Utah and also teaching them how the government sort of, sometimes, partially functions. Diane was very involved in the Jordan School District and was on the board for the Jordan Education Association (JEA). She was always one to lead ANY charge that she and her fellow educators felt passionate about.

Diane married the love of her life, Russell Ferrin, on February 17th, 1973, and they had two children, Ryan and Alecia. Diane and Russ were inseparable best friends (both teachers!) and were married for almost 50 years. They traveled the country together in a pop up trailer during their summers to take in as much beauty as they could.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Connie Bagley Krause and Gerad I. Nielsen, and her brother, Allen Bagley. She is survived by her husband Russell, brother Jeff (Karen) Nielsen, sister Carole (Richard) Stott, son Ryan (Rachael) Ferrin, daughter Alecia (David) Wicklund, and grandchildren Theodore, Chris, Chloe, and Aiden.

Diane's wish was to be cremated and for her ashes to be spread in her rose bushes and in the mountains at a later date. She was not a fan of funerals and instead wanted a gathering of family and friends. An open house-style Celebration of Life party for Diane will be held at the Daybreak Hills Condominiums clubhouse (1320 W. 6690 S., West Jordan, UT 84123) between 5 and 8 PM on Friday, September 23rd. Please park at the LDS church at 1380 W. 6785 S., West Jordan, UT 84084, and we will shuttle anyone who wants a ride to the clubhouse.
