MRS. ANGUS N. MURRAY, MILAN
Milan, June 25. -- The funeral service for Mrs. Angus N. Murray was held June 3 from Bethany Church, following prayers at the home. Rev. J. W. Smith, of Scotstown, officiated, speaking impressive and comforting words. He took for his text Revelations XIV-13. A favorite psalm of the deceased was read in Gaelic. The Twenty-third Psalm was sung in English and the choir sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye."
The bearers were her three, sons, Martin, Kenneth and John Murray, her son-in-law, Rev. Donald Morrison, her cousin, Norman A. MacDonald, and her nephew, John N. MacKenzie.
Mary Ann Campbell was born in Dell on July 20, 1865, one of a family of ten children of the late Norman and Annie Murray Campbell. She was married to Murdo Smith in May 1888. Of this union two children were born, Murdo John Smith and Dora, Mrs. Donald R. Morrison, both of Montreal. Mr. Smith passed away on Christmas Day, 1891.
In 1895 she was married to Angus N. Murray, There were three children born of this union, Katherine and Kenneth Angus, twins, and John Norman Roderick. Katherine passed away in infancy. Kenneth and John reside in Peterborough, Ont.
Eight grandchildren survive: Ellen Smith, Mrs. Clinton MacCutcheon, Ewen, Willard and Donalda Morrison, all of Montreal; William, Marion, Katherine and Kenneth Murray, of Peterborough, Ont. She is also survived by one sister and one brother, [Mary Effie] Mrs. Norman D. Murray, of Graniteville. Vt. and Kenneth N. Campbell, of Durham, Conn., as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Murray was ill with the grippe in February, and never seemed to regain her strength. The second week in May she became worse, but, was up and around until May. 19.
She was cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Morrison, and her granddaughter, [Ellen LuLu Smith] Mrs. MacCutcheon, R.N. Her family were all at her bedside when she passed away.
Mrs. Murray was a devoted wife, a loving and unselfish mother, a kind neighbor and a great worker, but never too busy to give a hand where there was sickness or trouble in the community. She was always cheerful and optimistic and was a very active member of the Ladies' Aid Society since it was organized.
The sympathy of their relatives and friends is extended the bereaved husband and children, sister and brother.
