McALLEN, Texas - McAllen, TX - Arturo M. Cantu went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2023 at the age of 86. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.

Arturo was born in Mercedes Texas, son of Maria Guadalupe Mejia Cantu and Jose Navarro Cantu; owners of the Mer-Tex cafe. Upon graduation from Mercedes HS, Arturo attended Pan American University and served in the Texas National Guard.

He dedicated the early years of his career to the Veterans Administration in McAllen Texas and then retired from the US Postal Service. In his retirement years, Arturo became a realtor and then a real estate broker.

Arturo is preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe M. Cantu and Jose N. Cantu, his brother Juan Angel Cantu, and sister Maria Deifilia Cantu Ulbinsky.

Arturo is survived by the love of his life Graciela Q. Cantu, his daughter Iliana Cantu Guerrero, (son in law Miguel E. Guerrero), his son Arturo Cantu Jr., his son Arturo R. Cantu, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Arturo is also survived by his brother Jose M. Cantu and sisters Gloria Cantu Hoff, Lupita Cantu Perez and Maria Helena Cantu Clair.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 1pm to 9pm with eulogy beginning at 7pm at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 McDavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. A chapel service will occur Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 10am at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista followed by burial at 11am at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Blvd. Brownsville, Texas 78521
