Florence Dixon Sheppard, 91, of Millville died at home Thursday, April 17, 2008, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Sheppard was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Downer to William and Mary Dixon. She spent her early years in Vineland before moving to Millville in 1923. Mrs. Sheppard worked for the Millville Board of Education, working at both Bacon School and Memorial Junior High School, serving on the cafeteria staff for 15 years. She was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church in Millville. Mrs. Sheppard enjoyed reading, shopping, spending time at the Shore and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Sheppard of Millville; son, Terry Sheppard of North Wildwood; granddaughters, Melanie and husband Steve Olsen, and Tricia and husband Bill Gonnelly of Egg Harbor Township; and a grandson, Mark and wife Tracy Sheppard of North Wildwood. Mrs. Sheppard also leaves seven great-grandchildren who she loved dearly, Brittany, Dale, Billy, Taylor, Stephanie, Devyn and Steven. She was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, Laurence Sr.; daughter, Joyce Ann; and son, Laurence Jr.
Services will be held at Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home, 24 N. 2nd St., Millville.
Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
