George Kipp was a blacksmith by trade. He had his shop in downtown Eldorado. The building was still standing in 2006. He was born in Burlington, Wisconsin, the son of German emigrants.
Remembering George Kipp
His granddaughter Bernice Rochford stated:
"Grandpa could play any instrument. His favorite was the accordion- he took it everywhere with him. We loved it when he came to visit! He was a stout man, but very limber. He would play his old German Songs and do a German dance-bouncing up and down as he played! He was a really good veterinary-really good horse doctor. Horses were worth a lot more than cows-people didn't call the veterinary for their cows. He shoed so many horses! He taught others how to shoe horses. He had felt well the day he died---worked all day.
