Jacob Shindel, s/o John Peter and Anna Maria (Menges) Shindel, was married to Elizabeth (Leisenring) Shindel. They were the parents of 9 children, 5 known to have lived to maturity. Jacob was a Corporal in the War of 1812, and later in life became a Colonel in the PA Militia. He was a charter member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge, instituted on Feb. 5, 1820, and was Worshipful Master in 1825. He died at the young age of 37 of typhoid fever and was buried at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
