Clifford D. "Kippy" Birch, 90, of Palmerton, passed away Friday, December 1, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest campus. He was the husband of the late Barbara F. Birch.
He worked as an aviation mechanic for US Air for 45 years until retiring.
Cliff was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Palmerton. He made and donated scores of birdhouses over many years that helped raise funds for the "Feed the Hungry" organization.
He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War, rising to the rank of Sergeant.
Cliff played baseball and basketball as a youth and enjoyed fishing and vacationing in his adult years. He was an avid Penn State football fan.
Born in Stoystown, Somerset County, he was a son of the late Dorothy (Birch) Hostetler.
Survivors: Daughters Sharon and husband Richard Shander, Diane and companion Joe Danyo; Grandchildren Jonathan and companion Rebekah Maehrer, Jared and Ethan; Sister Mrs. Sandra Shaffer; Companion Barbara Beltz. He was predeceased by his stepfather Charles Hostetler, and brothers Donald and Larry Hostetler.
Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, December 9 in church, 891 Columbia Ave, Palmerton. Call 12-1 p.m. Saturday in church. Arrangements, T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, Palmerton.
