May 21, 1865, he honorably discharged by order of the War Department to date June 5, 1865, from the hospital at Fortress Monroe, Virginia.

Alexander Johnson, 93, colored, died in the Lancaster County Hospital Monday afternoon, of infirmities incident to his age. He was formerly of Pittsburgh and for the past year resided with Harry Frazer, Mercer and Howard Avenues. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served as private in Co. E. forty-fifth regiment. Funeral services will be held from Rote's funeral parlors, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery.
