Frederick W. Harder, Sr., age 91 passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 19, 2008 at his home after a lingering illness. He was born September 6, 1916 in the Town of Chilton to the late Fred & Mary (Pagel) Harder. At the age of 4, he moved with his parents to the present family farm and lived there until his death. He graduated from Chilton High School in 1935 and then farmed with his dad. On June 21, 1941 he married Marcella Kissinger and together they farmed and raised their 3 sons. He was a lifelong member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where he was baptized, and confirmed. He served as elder, secretary, and treasurer of the congregation during his many years of membership at St. Luke. He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Marcella; 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Frederick Jr (Anita) Harder of Hilbert, Robert (Nancy) Harder of Chilton, Paul (Jean) Harder of Hilbert; 2 grandchildren: Andrea (Jeremy) Schultz of Bay City, MI, Aaron Harder of Milwaukee; 3 step-grandchildren: Todd (Karen) Ritzke of Kaukauna, Stacy (Brian) Carpenter of Eau Claire, Tracy (Scott) Kluge of Mondovi, WI; and 7 step-great-grandchildren: Cole, Noah, Jake, Annika, Marc, Zach and Megan. Fred is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by 3 infant brothers; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law: Reinie (Viola) Harder, Leonard (Laurene) Harder, Gerry (Oma) Harder; and 2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Esther (Bennie) Duchow and Elnora (Lester) Deno. Funeral services will be at 11:30 Am on Friday, April 25, 2008 at St. Luke Lutheran Church with the Rev. Julius Manteufel officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
