Hope M. Villarreal, 60, of 671 W. Tompkins died Friday, May 28, 1999, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

Born Aug. 10, 1938, in Chicago to Gumaro F. and Mary Rodriguez Mercado, she married Daniel A. Villarreal in 1956 in Chicago. He survives.

Also surviving are her mother of Galesburg; five sons, Daniel, Gumaro and Richard, all of Chicago, Joseph of Cicero and Michael of Galesburg; two daughters, Gloria Chavez of Galesburg and Mary Helen Gutierrez-Villarreal of Cicero; three brothers, Gumaro and Jesse Mercado, both of Paris, Calif., and Raymond Mercado of Galesburg; and six sisters, Mary Helen Mercado, of Costa Mesa, Calif., Margaret Hernandez of Romeoville, Sarah Gutierrez of Galesburg and Armeda Friere, Connie Torrez and Hortensia Vargas, all of Cicero.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Yolanda, in 1987, one sister, one brother and three grandchildren.

A homemaker, she was a member of Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
