She was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Lubbock to parents Joe Bailey and Juanita Skeen Fondy.
Her parents owned a boat, shoe and leather craft shop in Slaton.
Carolyn graduated from Slaton High School at the age of 16 as class Valedictorian. She attended Texas Tech where she played in the Texas Tech Band. Later she graduated from the University of New Mexico. She taught English in Alberquerque, N.M. and Carrolton/Farmer Branch Independent School District.
Carolyn made a career change and worked in the corporate world for 35 years. Upon retirement, she volunteered at Prestonwood Baptist church in Plano, assisting with the Senior Adult Program.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ted Fondy and Pat Fondy, and sister Betty Fondy Ritchey.
Survivors include her daughters Lea Ann Wilson and husband Steve, Tracy Lynn Hendrix and husband Randy, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, brother Mike Fondy and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in Plano at Prestonwood Baptist Church Dec. 21, 2023. She was laid to rest in Slaton at Englewood Cemetery, with graveside services conducted Dec. 28, 2023.
