Beatrice (Fuller) Hopps, 85, of Springfield, formerly of Greenfield, Mass., died Thursday at Primrose Place. She was born in New Paltz, N.Y., Oct. 20, 1912, the daughter of William G. and Hattie (Blakeney) Fuller. She and her family moved to Lancaster, N.H., when she was 16. She graduated from high school in Lancaster, earned a diploma in elementary education from Plymouth (NH) Normal School, attended Keene (NH) Normal School and graduated in 1936 from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor of science degree. Hopps taught school for several years and worked summers as a camp counselor and swimming instructor. She was married to Van Buren Hopps in 1937. They worked together as directors and house parents at various children's homes in New England. In 1944, they moved to Griswoldville, Mass. After working at the Kurt Hattin Home in Westminster, Vt., she moved to Greenfield. Her husband died in 1969. She was a member of Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Greenfield and had been its church secretary, adult Sunday school teacher, pianist, treasurer and board member. She was a volunteer for the Girl Scouts, Parent-Teachers Association and church women's groups. She moved to Springfield in 1996. Survivors include a son, Timothy of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; a daughter, Rhona Stanek of Springfield; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will take place Monday at Living Waters Assembly of God Church, 450 Davis St., Greenfield, with the Rev. David Levandusky, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in North River Cemetery, Colrain, Mass.
