Born in Manchester, Lancashire, England, son of Sarah and John Herbert Drinkwater. Thomas Drinkwater served in the Boer War (1899-1902), and WWI (1915-1919). He married Edith Maud Twitty on 24 Jun 1903 in England. Arrived in Canada with Thomas Clarke (brother-in-law) on 23 April 1907 on the SS Mongolian, from Scotland. His wife and son Leonard arrived in September. The family settled in Vancouver. Thomas died from injuries from being struck by a street car.
