Ms. Johanna Schaefer Abney, died Sunday, January 14, 2024, following a long battle with mesothelioma. She was born on Thursday, April 12,1945, to the late Arthur Mayo and Cornelia Agnus Schaefer. She was a long time resident of Slidell, Louisiana.
Johanna was employed with St. Tammany Parish Schools for 29 years where she served as an assistant manager of food services at Slidell High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and served in children ministries for many years.
She loved animals, plants and Elvis. She was a beautiful seamstress and shared that love with her granddaughters.
Johanna was preceded in death by her parents! and one brother: Harry Schaefer. She is survived by her husband: Robert Crosby Abney; her two sons: Keith (Christy) and Jason (Reagan), four grandchildren: Lanie, Jesi, Noah, and Sophie; one brother: Richard Schaefer; one sister-in-law: Joy Schaefer; other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral service for Carla was held at the at Honaker Funeral Home, in Slidell, on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
She was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
