According to the will of Seraphina Donclere dated 1809 and proved in 30 May 1810 Mordaunt had under his protection a Mrs Bridget Watson who had given birth to Fanny Ricketts in 1809 and would give birth to Charlotte Caroline Ricketts in Oct 1810.
He married, firstly, Marie Elizabeth Crommelin, daughter of Charles Russell Crommelin and Julia Barker, on or before 21 February 1812.

Their eldest son, also Mordaunt, went to Haileybury College, became a magistrate in service of the East India Company, and was killed in the church at Shahjehanpore during the uprising of 1857.
