Virginia (Ginny) Rowley passed peacefully at home on October 7, 2020 from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) after being diagnosed in January; by her side were her husband Mark of 46 years, her children Scott (Chrystelle) of Falls Church, VA and Lauren (Kristin) of Lynnwood, WA and her sister Gloria of Chattanooga, TN. Ginny is also survived by her sister Janice Lumley (Dave) of Livonia, MI, and her 95-year-old mother, Marjorie Butler of Northville, MI. She was a loving grandma to her three grandsons, Conrad(3), Nicolas(3), and Leland(2) and had seven nieces and nephews and 21 first cousins. Ginny adored her beagles, including her current dog, Bailey, who became her comfort over the last many months.


Born in 1950 in Detroit, MI, Ginny graduated from the University of Michigan in 1972 and was also a proud member of Alpha Phi Sorority. In 1975, she obtained her MBA from Eastern Michigan. She worked as a CPA at Haskins & Sells, now merged into Deloitte. She retired in 1986 to spend more time with her kids.


Ginny married Mark in 1974 and together they moved from Michigan to Seattle in 1977, enjoying its natural beauty and outdoor activities. As an ardent Michigan fan, she was president of the Seattle Michigan Alumni Club and most recently the chair of its Scholarship Committee.Ginny enjoyed spending her time managing the family's accounts and investments, reading, playing tennis, traveling to foreign countries, growing vegetables, solving crossword puzzles, decorating for holidays, and cooking delicious meals. Ginny had one of the largest collections of cookbooks in Seattle and would rarely repeat a meal.
