Funeral services for Stella Wilbanks, 100 of Giddings, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Tim Pitts officiating. A private burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Stella Marie Wilbanks was born on February 18, 1923 in Giddings, the daughter of Elsie Frederica Christiansen. She grew up on the family homestead that had been in her family since 1889. Stella moved to Austin when she was 19 and married Robert Harold Loveless in 1944. They had two daughters, Sherry and Christine. Stella and Bob divorced in 1952 and she moved back to the Houston area with her two young daughters. She went to work at the Texas Highway Department. It was here where she met Charles Parker Wilbanks Jr. whom she married in 1964. After Charles died in 1982, Stella moved back to the family homeplace in Giddings. She, and her sister Florence, raised cattle, fixed fences, and built and repaired just about everything that broke. Stella was also a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church in Giddings. She enjoyed dancing and was an excellent dancer. She was 100 years old when it was decided that she could no longer live alone. She spent a brief time in a nursing home before moving in with her daughter Sherry. It was at Sherry's home that on the evening of Tuesday, February 6, 2024, Stella passed away.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Florence Cooke, Beatrice Smith, and Dorothy Ginsel; her brother, John "Sonny" Smith; her niece, Dorothy Cook, and her stepson, William Wilbanks and his wife, Julia.

Stella is survived by her two daughters, Sherry Schindler and her husband, Alvin of League City and Christine Doerr of Crosby; two grandchildren, Aaron Schindler and his wife, Felicia of League City and Jill Randecker and her husband, Adam of Dickinson; five great grandchildren, Caden Schindler, Hannah Schindler, and Carson Schindler all of League City, Lyla Lewis and Easton Lucas of Dickinson, and Jet Randecker of League City; four nieces; four nephews, and a stepson, Charles Wilbanks and his wife, Shin of South Carolina.
