Florence died at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 12 days on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at her residence in Giddings. She received the sacrament of the Holy Catholic Church at the age of 95, when she received the name Blessed Saint Theresa. A special verse to her was Hebrews 6:2.

On April 22, 1939 Florence married Robert Lee Cooke in Austin. Their union was blessed through the years with four daughters, Carolyn, Marie, Dorothy and Lisa. Florence was a homemaker who had many loves, including: being outdoors, even in the rain; dancing, especially to polka music; watching the hummingbirds; and talking about her life and her daughters. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Her most memorable trips were with her girls and their husbands, when she, Marie and Allan went to Hawaii and when she, Lisa and William went to a reunion in Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Ross of Giddings, Marie Hawkins and husband, Allan of Bartonville, Dorothy Goetz and husband, Donald of Giddings, and Lisa Snyder and husband, William of Sugarland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Andrew Williams, Allison Prather, Wade Hawkins, Robert Hawkins, Brandy Gerdes, Rachel Jones, and Rebecca Snyder, by fifteen great-grandchildren, Amanda Mauz, John Bice, Lori Martinez, Jennifer Williams, Clayton Patton, Carolyn Martinez, Christopher Williams, Ricky Williams, Wade Prather, Amber Prather, Halley Hawkins, Tristan Hawkins, Garson Gerdes, Spencer Hawkins and Connor Hawkins, and by sixteen great great-grandchildren . Florence is also survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Ginsel of Austin and Stella Wilbanks of Giddings, as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, Robert on January 1, 2010. She was also preceded by granddaughter, Kelly Williams, by brother, John Smith, and by sister, Beatrice Smith.

Services will be held at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Giddings with Father Jim Olnhausen officiating. Visitation will be at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home, Giddings. The family will be present.
