Dougal was a crew member on Avro Lancaster Mk.X - KB850 / WL-O which was sent on a bombing sortie to the Braunkohle-Benzin synthetic-oil plant at Zeitz, Germany. While en route to their objective they were involved in a mid-air collision with another bomber resulting in both planes crashing at Pfaffenhausen, Germany.


Husband of Margaret Kathleen (nee Jarrett) Turner, of Church Stretton, Shropshire. Dougal and Margaret were married in England on Dec 22, 1943. Margaret served in the RAF and then after her marriage, in the RCAF.


He is remembered on a marker here at Bournmouth Crematorium and North Cemetery but he is buried at Durnbach War Cemetery in Germany. Family links are attached to the burial memorial.


He is also remembered on a family marker at Dresden Cemetery in Dresden, Ontario.
