SOUTHERN PINES - Mrs. Emma Holliday Collins, 56, died suddenly at her home here Sunday. Her husband is one of the owners of Collins Department Stores of North Carolina and South Carolina.
The acting coroner of Moore County, Dr. Francis L. Owens, said death was from natural causes. Funeral services will be held at the Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church here, probably Tuesday, and burial will be in Marion, SC.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Arthur Collins; two sons, James Collins of Rockingham and Harold Collins of Durham; and a daughter, Emma Holliday Collins a junior at Converse College, Spartanburg, SC.
Mrs. Collins was a native of Gallivants Ferry, SC.
The Collins Department Stores were founded by her husband's father in Spartanburg. Headquarters had been in Lumberton. Her husband was mayor of Lumberton before they moved here about 16 years ago.
